Q&A
1. What fees do I need to pay, and when?
There are two payments:
• HKD500 Deposit: Payable when you apply. Refund eligibility is subject to the conditions outlined below.
• HKD3,500 Programme Fee — Remaining Balance: Payable only after you successfully secure and accept an internship offer. This payment confirms and secures your placement. Once your placement is finalized and accepted, the programme fee is non-refundable.
2. Is my deposit refundable if I attend an interview but later decide not to proceed?
No.
The HKD500 deposit is fully refundable only if you select three companies and do not receive any interview invitations from any of them.
If you receive an interview invitation, whether you attend or decline it, you do not meet the refund conditions.
3. How are placements arranged, and is an internship guaranteed?
We will share your resume with your preferred companies and recommend you according to your priority choices, but Matching is a two-way selection process between you and the hiring companies.
A placement depends on the company offering you a position and your acceptance of that offer. Therefore, we cannot guarantee an interview or a final internship placement.
4. Is the internship paid or unpaid?
Compensation is determined by each host company and may vary depending on the role, internship format, duration, and your skills and experience.
Therefore, please discuss and confirm any salary, stipend or other compensation directly with the host company during your interview.
5. Will I receive an internship certificate or a reference letter?
Internship certificates and reference letters are determined on a case-by-case basis by the host company.
Host companies are generally happy to assist following a successful internship, but these are not guaranteed. Please discuss your requirements and confirm the arrangements directly during your interview.
6. Do I need a Singapore visa or work pass for a remote internship?
If you complete the internship entirely remotely from outside Singapore and do not enter Singapore for the placement, you do not need a Singapore entry visa or work pass for that arrangement.
If you are physically in Singapore while working remotely for a Singapore-based host company, you must have the appropriate work authorisation or qualify for an applicable exemption before starting.
7. Can I intern from December to January, or choose another period?
Yes. Please clearly indicate your available start date, end date and preferred internship period in both your CV and application form.
We and the host companies will consider your availability during matching because the final dates and duration depend on the host company’s requirements and mutual agreement.
8. Is IELTS or TOEFL required?
It is not a mandatory programme application requirement.
However, if you have English test results or other relevant evidence of English proficiency, you are welcome to include them in your application materials to demonstrate your communication skills.
9. Can I apply as an exchange student?
Yes. Exchange students are welcome to apply through the usual application process.
However, programme eligibility and permission to work in Singapore are separate matters. Please confirm the appropriate work authorisation with your university, the host company and MOM before starting a placement in Singapore.
10. Can I apply for a position that is unrelated to my major?
Yes. Students from all majors are welcome to apply.
Please review the job description carefully, as individual positions may require specific knowledge or skills. Use your application to explain your interest and highlight relevant experience from coursework, projects, extracurricular activities or previous work.
11. Do I need to be in a particular year of study to apply?
There is no fixed year-of-study requirement for the programme. Students at different years and levels of study are welcome to apply, and we have previously welcomed Year 2 students.
Selection depends primarily on your skills, experience, motivation and fit with the host company’s requirements, rather than your year of study alone.
